Subproject 1. Marine Ecosystems: Susceptible and resilient marine invertebrates.

In this project, thermal stress and contaminants will be evaluated for their effects on resilient and sensitive coral species, and a model invertebrate organism from the same habitat will be studied for effects on neural circuits. The combination of population-level effects, organismal effects, cellular effects, and test of potential prophylactic treatments will lead to a mechanistic understanding of deteriorating conditions and potential remediation of marine ecosystems.
