Subproject 2. Rivers & Estuarine Ecosystems: Developing and mature decapod crustaceans and the zebrafish model.

In this project effects of anthropogenic stressors on developing and mature decapods will be examined and mechanistic hypotheses will be tested in the vertebrate model, zebrafish. The combination behavioral tracking, developmental staging, and electrophysiology on decapods and the experimental study of molecular processes in the zebrafish model will lead to a mechanistic understanding of deteriorating conditions and potential remediation of river and estuarine ecosystems.
